ASIC Issues New Catalogue for Private Credit Fund Operators

ASIC has published a new guide summarising the main legal obligations for private credit funds, aiming to help fund operators to meet compliance requirements.

This update is part of ASIC’s wider plan to raise industry standards and improve transparency for both retail and wholesale private credit funds. The catalogue is meant to be a practical starting point, not a full rulebook, and it also applies to the wider funds management sector.

ASIC’s recent checks found some poor practices in the private credit sector. They are now urging operators to use the catalogue to review their current processes and raise the bar where needed. This effort is also part of their long-term plan for capital markets and will help shape new regulatory guidance expected in 2026–27.

This is a timely reminder to ensure your fund governance, disclosure, and fee structures align with current expectations. The catalogue is not a substitute for legal advice, but it is a helpful way to benchmark practices.
